SOC training in Kisangani, DRC.
“Jambo”
It’s been a busy October here in Africa, which has included some interesting travel experiences.
Country: Congo – Democratic Republic of Congo this is the largest land mass country in Africa. Although it is rich in natural minerals, oil, gold etc, very little of the money has reached the general populace. On the eastern side of this country there have been wars and fighting, which has included brutal and tremendous disregard for human life. There is no direct highway that connects east from west, instead travel has to be done via plane.
The School of Christ training was run in the city of Kisangani which is located in the North central part of Congo. Their were 110 registered students of which 69 graduated. Attendance and discipline issues kept the others from graduating with a certificate, although some stayed on and finished the School. They were so blessed by the teaching, they did not want to leave.
Country: Rwanda – Rwanda is a country in East Africa that experienced a horrific genocide in the 1990’s. We continue to run Schools here as the word has spread over the years about the effectiveness of the teaching. We ran a school this month with 30 students. All of them were either Pastors or Bishops, which here in Africa means they are responsible for more than one church. The testimonies from some of these leaders is encouraging. They have been through Bible schools, but this is more than they have experienced before. Praise God for the opportunity to meet the need in this land!
Country: Nigeria – We had a bit of a set back in this country this month, as there were two schools scheduled having 25 students each. However, when I arrived to start the schools only six people kept their word and turned up for the training. I amalgamated the two schools into one and we ran it in the city of Lagos. Although the turn-out was not as good as we had planned, we thank the Lord for the six who graduated and look forward to further work in Nigeria.
The family is keeping well. We have had a visit from Hilary’s mum, Frances this month. It has been great to have her over. Homeschooling is still progressing and the children are all growing quickly. Their days are filled with school, animals, tree forts, rope swings and each other. We really appreciate all of you who pray for our safety. We have seen God’s hand in so many ways lately, keeping us from great danger, it is such a comfort to know you are praying for us.
By the grace of God, we are trying to take advantage of every opportunity the Lord places before us here in Africa. Thank you for praying, giving, and encouraging us in the work of LITWM here. We are so thankful and blessed to be part of it together with you.
