Light In The World Ministries October Update 2016

Photos: Training Session, Koboko

Dear Friends,

We recently finished a school in a place called Koboko, Northern Uganda on the South Sudanese border.  According to news estimates, over one million people have fled from violence in South Sudan to neighboring countries like Uganda and Congo.

The training was focused on South Sudanese pastors who have been forced to leave their country while the violence continues.  We had a great school with 30 of these leaders in attendance. They were all very attentive to the lessons and showed a good level of understanding.  I know many of these students face great difficulties in the days ahead.  Please pray that they would stand strong in the Lord to see the furtherance of God’s will and purpose in this area.

This month of October we have already started schools in the countries of Zimbabwe, Togo, Congo, Kenya and at the end of the month in Nigeria.

“We must recognize and earnestly seek that which God’s heart is set upon, that is a people of the cross; a people who have been crucified with Christ and whose life is a testimony to Calvary’s victory over every enemy of Christ.”  (BH Clendennen, SOC series: Almighty Blood)

Light In The World Ministries September 2016

LITWM September 2016 Update

(1Co 3:11)  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

The foundational material for all service and work that is done for God must be Christ. Without Him the whole structure of ministry and life in God falls apart.

The great blessing of the teaching of the School of Christ is to focus each student upon life’s lesson which is Jesus Christ.  He must be the first and primary thing that occupies the heart of each human.

I am so grateful to the Lord for the opportunity of seeing pastors and leaders of Churches across the continent of Africa be challenged and changed in their walk with the Lord as they go through these training schools.

In the month of August we completed schools in the following countries in Africa.

Country: Democratic Republic of Congo

City: Kinshasa – This is the fourth full-time residential school that we have run in the capital city.  There is such a great need in this country for the practical manifestation of Christ to be lived out fully in each Christian’s life.  The corruption within the country makes it a daily battle for believers to stand true against the prevailing system.  We thank God for the facilitators on the ground, who are working to carry forth the vision of the school into the different parts of their country.  We graduated a school here on the 27th August.

City: Bukavu– This city is located near to the Rwandan border.  We first ran a school in Bukavu in 2008 and since that time we have gone back to run other schools.  It has been some years since we have been in this location and were able to graduate 20 students.

Country: Republic of Chad

City: Doba – This was the first school we have run in Chad. Our director whom we sent from Cameroon faced many difficulties in this school but we are rejoicing in the faithfulness of God to see the school established.  They graduated on the 22nd August.

In this month of September we start a school at the border of South Sudan and Uganda in a place called Koboko. Because of rebel fighting in South Sudan, people have had to flee their country for the safety of their own lives.  Our director Thomas contacted us saying that there is a great opportunity for reaching the church leaders located on the border, if we could run a school there.  So we have quickly put together a school and will be running it from the 12th to 30th September.

Country: Kenya

City: Nairobi  – For many years the School of Christ has been running in Kenya.  I rejoice in the steadfast commitment shown by the director Joseph and the team as they labor in running the schools.  They have completed a school in August in Nairobi.  We jointly work together helping support the work as they continue forward. They are starting a school this month of September in the city of Naivasha.

Thank you to those who pray and help support the ministry.  We are very aware that we are all in this work together.

(Psa 115:1)  Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.

(Col 2:5)  For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

One of the fruits of running the schools is seeing the order and steadfastness that comes about in the students’ lives from being under the influence of the Word of God and prayer.

We receive students from different cultural and theological backgrounds, with cherished strongholds that have been lodged in their minds and are contrary to the Word of God.

In every school a conflict begins and is often intense. As the school progresses, prayer becomes effectual, truth is received and barriers are broken down. The result is order, steadfastness and a setting of the affections on things above.

In the month of June we graduated a school in Burkina Faso.

Forty-seven leaders gathered from different villages across the country to meet for the school in Ougadougo (the capital city). The day before graduation, one of the older pastors in the school testified and encouraged the class of their need to walk in obedience to the revealed truth, to stand strong as they go back to their communities, and demonstrate that Christ is alive.

In the month of June we also had schools in:

Porto Novo, Benin Republic – We had twelve students.

Shinyanga, Tanzania – We had twenty-four Bishops and Pastors.

Yaounde, Cameroon – We had nineteen students gather from different areas of the country.

Nairobi, Kenya – A school has just been completed.

This month of July we are starting another school in Burkina Faso.

In August, we have schools running in the city of Kinshasa and Bukavu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

We also have a school starting in the country of Chad, (a landlocked nation surrounded by Libya, Sudan, CAR, Niger and Cameroon). This is the first time we have ever had the opportunity to go there.

The only hope is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Man cannot be educated out of his evil; he must be Born Again!

Thank you to all who have helped pray and support the above and continuing work in Africa.

Light In The World Ministries May 2016

The purpose of the schools we run in Africa is more than enabling pastors and leaders of churches be grounded in the Word of God and prayer.  We are seeking to raise up a vessel of Spiritual recovery and revival in our day and age that will make a difference in their communities. We are believing God for a heaven sent revival.  We can, through the power of the Holy Ghost, make a difference in this generation!
A lot of exciting things have been going on in the months of April and May in Africa.  Listed below are some the schools we have helped to run.
Full time Schools Completed:
Nairobi, Kenya –  We had 13 graduates come from different places in Kenya (Embu, Bungoma, Kisumu).  To be trained in Nairobi for our April session.

Kenya Class.jpg
Above: Class in Nairobi, Kenya
Byumba, Rwanda – We had 29 graduates mostly from Byumba with a lot of local pastors attending in this rural town. We are very thankful to one of the pastors who donated the use of his church building for this school.
Rwanda Grad #1

Mahama Refugee Camp – This camp is set up for displaced Burundians who are fleeing to Rwanda because of the conflict in the country of Burundi. It is always sad to see people moved because of violence. However, the students attending this training were not discouraged. They were firmly persuaded that through the overseeing providence of God, their steps were being established and they would be witnesses and testimonies for Christ in the midst of their adversity.
Insigiro District, Uganda – This school was deep in the bush area. Our director, Richard, suffered with malaria through the entire school. Nevertheless, out of it a testimony of life came forth from the pastors that attended this training.
Upcoming Schools in June:
Porto Novo, Benin Republic
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso
Yaounde, Cameroon
Tanzania (location yet to be decided upon)
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support. We would appreciate your prayers for wisdom and guidance in the stewardship of this trust.

(2)  For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
Dear Friends,
Thank you for your prayers and support for the work in Africa.
We firmly believe that before revival comes, a vessel must be prepared through which that revival can come.  Our purpose in running the training schools is to see God raise up such vessels, full of the Holy Ghost, which will make a difference in our times.
In the months of February and March, we ran a school in South Africa with 13 leaders coming from Zimbabwe.   We also graduated a school in city of Accra, Ghana with 20 pastors. Following the graduation the local Director was able to run the school in another location in Ghana called Dodze, close to the Togo border.  Also, two schools were completed in Kenya in the towns of Bungoma and Embu.
In the month of April we are running classes in Rwanda, Uganda and Kenya.  During this month we also plan to run the school among refugees that have fled from the conflict presesntly in Burundi into Rwandan camps.
I know many times people wonder where the places we visit are located. I would encourage you to have a look at a map or do a search on “Google”. It is a wonderful eye-opener to see where the doors are opening all over Africa for the school. It is equally humbling to be a part of this work!
Thank you for your prayers and support as we continue to labour together for the discipling of the Church of Africa.

Light In The World Ministry Update February 2016

Picture above: School in South Sudan

I returned from a recent trip to South Sudan where the school was running in a place called Yei.
We had 37 students present for the three week school.  The first three days were a struggle as the students came from diverse backgrounds and some had very little comprehension of prayer.  Going into the fourth day there was a breakthrough, an awakening of the heart and mind to spiritual things and an apprehension of the Word of God.  I rejoice in the work that was accomplished.  Thank you all for praying.

1 Corinthians 1:18

Light in the World Ministries update November 2015

Ive been meditating on an old hymn these last few weeks. Below is one of the verses of the hymn.

I hear of disaster and Doom’s Day,
of nations gone down for the foe,
It’s strange but I sing of a Kingdom,

That no one can ever o’er throw.

The imminent threats that are faced all over the world are not a deterrent to the forward movement of the Gospel; but rather, it should spur us on to take the Gospel forward. God has commissioned His people and we can make a difference in the day and age we are living in.

We have recently graduated schools in Winterveld, South Africa with 23 graduates, and Lome, Togo with 14 graduates.

During this month of November, our director in Kenya was invited to run a school in a place called Bungoma, Kenya with 30 pastors in attendance.

We have started a school in Ivory Coast  and also have planned a revision class in South Africa for the former students, which will take place from 10th to the 12th December.

Light In The World Ministries Update August / September 2015

1 Corinthians 15:55-57 (55)  O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (56)  The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.

(57)  But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

August was a busy month for the ministry.  We had schools running in five different countries.  The first was in Northern Cameroon in a place called “Maroua”. The purpose of this school was to draw pastors from the neighboring countries of Central Africa Republic (CAR) and Chad.  Due to civil unrest in the country of CAR it made it difficult for some of the pastors to travel into Cameroon.  The areas highlighted above are places of intense persecution for Believers. We pray that the pastors who went through the school were fortified in their lives to go back to their homes and take the glorious gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to those that don’t know Him.

Other schools that we ran in August were in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where we sponsored one school in Kinshasa (West DRC) and another in Bukavu (East DRC).

I visited a new school we were running in Ghana on the eastern side near to the border of Togo. This is the first time we have run a school in this region.

In Hammanskraal, South Africa we graduated a school on the 8th August.  The next school that I had planned to run in South Africa was booked for OctoberHowever, such was the demand from the pastors to run another school,  I agreed to run two more concurrently in the same area.  Both of these schools graduated on the 5th September after completing three weeks training.

In this month of September, we have great openings in the country of Kenya.  Our director, Joseph, has been able to introduce the school to 70 pastors in the Kisumu area of Kenya.  The school will be running there this month.
